Top 5 Natural Hair Dyes

Those with brunette hair can use sage to darken it. Sage is also helpful for covering grey. Simply steep a cup of dried sage in a litre of boiling water for half an hour. Next, wash and dry your hair, and then pour the sage water over it. Leave for 15 minutes and then wash out.

Carrot Juice

Carrot juice can give your hair an orange tint. To use carrot juice as a natural dye, you need to mix it with olive oil or coconut oil. Massage into your hair and then wrap in plastic for one hour. Use apple cider vinegar to rinse the mixture out.

Beet Juice

Beet juice can be used in much the same manner as carrot juice described above. You’ll want to use beet juice instead of carrot juice if you’re after a deeper red colouring.

Lemon Juice

If you want to get natural highlights, lemon juice offers a good alternative to off the shelf products. Take a spray bottle and fill with lemon juice, and then spray into your hair. Spread the juice through your hair using a comb. For best results, you should sit in the sun with the juice in your hair for an hour before washing it out.

Coffee can be used to darken your hair and could also help in covering up grey. Make a half cup of strong coffee with dark-roast beans, and then mix it with a couple of tablespoons of coffee grounds and a cup of hair conditioner. Work this mix into still damp washed hair and leave it for one hour before you wash it out.
